About Refuweegee
Refuweegee is a community-led charity that gives people a way to welcome and embrace those newest to arrive. We strive to ensure that people who have been forced to flee their homes arrive in Scotland to a warm welcome and some of the things that will help them to feel more at home here.
Our busy city centre office spaces are regularly visited by over 300 people a week and their needs are met by a strong network of volunteers from old and new Scots communities.
About the Job
We’re looking for a competent Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and manage volunteers. You will be responsible for allocating responsibilities and ensuring balance between contributing to our overall aims and ensuring volunteers enjoy a variety of activities in our busy spaces.
It takes a competent leader to succeed in this role. You should know how to distinguish talent and do everything possible to motivate and inspire. You must possess excellent organisational skills and ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and experience.
Refuweegee is often in the luxurious position of having too many volunteers for the tasks at hand. The Volunteer Coordinator will be tasked with identifying different ways of working with volunteers to maximise their skills and opportunities to fulfil our mission.
About you
-
A good understanding of good practice in volunteer management with proven experience of recruiting, managing, training, and supporting volunteers in community settings with an emphasis on understanding and working with vulnerable volunteers.
-
Strong facilitation skills and essential experience of running peer support groups with charity beneficiaries.
-
Evidence of developing and delivering training to volunteers, based on needs of service users (in this case kinship carers).
-
Proven experience of working with vulnerable communities and family groups and of reaching and establishing relationships with hidden communities.
-
In-depth understanding of safeguarding particularly around vulnerable families.
-
Experience creating volunteer policies, procedures, and guidance.
-
An ability to put people at ease and a true enjoyment of working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
-
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communications with brilliant attention to detail.
-
Excellent administration and IT skills, ensuring all volunteer and training records are up to date and accurate.
-
Ability to work on your own initiative and manage a complex and varied workload to successfully meet project deadlines and targets.
-
A real commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion within your role.
-
Excellent time management.
-
Right to work in the UK.
