About the Event

Alexandra Shrinivas is a singer songwriter based in Glasgow. She explores themes of love, heartbreak and experiences of her mixed Scottish and Indian heritage through her own creations. Her work ‘A woman and her world’ was commissioned for Powa Scotland in 2022, mentioned in snack mag as one to watch ‘serving up a jazzy interlude with plaintive vocals, and a wish list to make this world less tiring’. She supported the band Campbell Jensen on their tour European tour in 2022, and her newest song ‘Luna’ was released December 2023. In 2024 she was working on a soundscape around themes of climate change and the metaphorical /physical meaning of flooding for Push the Boat out festival with spoken word poet Tim Tim Cheng for the National Theatre of Scotland and is currently developing a body of music called islands, that explores themes of integration and separation in community, encompassing her experiences as a mixed raced woman growing up in Scotland. She also continues to write music with band Sonder, creating more contemporary sounds as part of a 5 piece band on vocals and violin.
