About the Event

Join us on this special tour led by our pals from Radical Glasgow Tours on the occasion of the 2026 Commonwealth Games Festival!

🕓When?:

  • We'll meet at Refuweegee at 9:45am and we'll walk to Mclennan Arch on Saltmarket, to get the tour started at 10:30.

  • We'll finish around 12:30, so wear comfortable shoes!

👩‍🔬What?:

Our pals from Radical Glasgow Tours will take us on a walk though Glasgow Green to take a critical look at the city's relationship to the Commonwealth and its history as a hotbed of radical sporting traditions.

Probably the only tour in the world on which you will hear the stories of anticolonial boxers, champion cyclists, anarchist agitators, Glasgow's history as Second City of Empire, swimming in the Clyde, community football and much more.

The tour also includes a visit to one of Glasgow's weirdest bits of public art (there are some strong contenders), a bizarre modern megalith taking the form of a spiral through time...

‼️Important:

  • We have space for 20 people

  • The tour will be in English (tour will be BSL interpreted)

  • We will be walking during the 2 hours the tour takes, so please take that into consideration

  • Children are always welcome to come, but this activity might be better suited for all the 16+

  • We'll bring water bottles and snacks to share!
